How the three numbers work

Countries: Each of the 198 countries counts the same, so Monaco weighs as much as Russia. This is the number most travellers quote.
Land area: Big countries dominate: Russia, Canada, the US, China, Brazil and Australia together cover over 40% of the world’s land. Visiting one of them moves this number a lot.
Population: Measures how many of the world’s people live in countries you’ve visited. China and India alone hold over a third, so visiting either one adds a big share.
